Imagine being 4 years old and waking up as I did? Waking up in Pain, surgery, pain, stoma bag, do’s and don’ts … and your only little, you don’t understand. Imagine being that parent …

In the darkest places, you will find the brightest lights ⭐️
After leaving the negative Facebook group and then my rant post, I vowed to always balance it out. When I am negative or angry, I will balance that back out with something positive and inspirational.
Yesterday, my sister was round with my niblings. While they were here my Stoma nurse came to do my review, see how I was getting on in the world on my own. That is a whole discussion on its own. But myself and nurse Monica who I know from the daily visits in the hospital (ahem … take note IBD nurses), went upstairs as the house was busy. As we went up my nephew Jaxon showed interest, who is this lady, why is she here?
I need to talk with him. I have had a few things that I wanted in place first, a covered bag for one instead of a clear one – talking to a little boy about poo 💩 while showing him a bag of it seemed like a recipe for disaster 🤣. Secondly I had heard about the Buttony Bear and I think it would be a great way to explain it to him and also normalise for him and baby Millie as they grow that not everybody looks the same, we are all different and in that we are the same. 🥰 My order is in.
More than just a bear
A Bear Named Buttony supports children and young people who have a stoma.

For children, they gift a bear with a stoma, a book explaining and normalising the stoma and for young adults, a wash bag full of non-medical items to help adjust to a new life with a stoma. 🥰
A Bear Named Buttony also offer positive support and have an active Facebook page where parents can get support from other parents who may have a similar question or concern.
Check out little Jessica on BBC Breakfast with her Special bear this morning 🥰
By sponsoring a bear, I will be essentially donating funds that will allow this incredible charity to keep doing this amazing work! As well as teaching Jaxon what is ‘different’ about me at the moment and hopefully he will be a better human because of it.
Alternatively, there is the option to purchase items from their Amazon Wish List to help keep the supplies coming for these awesome little bears.
